With 14 rooms, this is more of a bed and breakfast than a hotel. I really loved this place! It's in a great location (3-min walk to Bourbon St) in the French Quarter. Beautiful! We stayed in 2 different suites - the Donecia was the best! Private balcony (the one in front), separate shower and jacuzzi. The Prince Edward was nice too - separate sitting room, shared balcony, and jacuzzi tub/shower combo. In short, this place was amazing!
There is no parking available, despite several websites that say there is. If you get really lucky (we didn't), you can find parking on the street. We parked in a lot that was about a 7-min walk away (cost was anywhere from $18-$25/day, depending on the lot you select). I don't blame the hotel for this, but it definitely needs to be pointed out if you plan to stay here.
The location and the staff!! Rooms were beautiful and love the pool
Nice room & romantic
There is absoulutely no parking. For the price there should be parking where the customers feel that their vehicle is safe.
One of my favorite motels that I have ever stayed in! Would definitely return if I am ever in New Orleans again, this was a beautiful place to stay.
The restoration and beauty of the hotel and facilities, and the location between the quarter and Frenchman
Stay was too short.
Enjoy staying is old homes. Tall ceilings, excellent facilities and friendly staff!! Great place!!!! Parking leaves something to be desired, but we really had no problem!!
This hotel was a nice surprise. It has been recently purchased and beautifully refurbished. The staff wasvery friendly and helpful. The wine and cheese was a nice touch too
Breakfasst was uninspired. The $150 security deposit was a surprise. Parking on side streets in 2 hr zones made me nervous about towing to ticketing, but the city wasn't enforcing this.
Great location. Friendly staff.
The web-site promised much more than the hotel actually delivered. They charged $8 per day for their feeble breakfast (lame store bought muffins) and wine and cheese (at dinner time). We didn't learn about the $8 charge until we looked at the final bill. Would not stay there again.
We loved the comfortable feeling and the gorgeous remodel. Staying at a smaller hotel has its perks-- you're treated like family ! Very nice staff, and cozy comfortable feel. Roomy accommodations -- a rarity in most larger cities!
It was a touch noisy in the mornings, as the day got going. The bed was beautiful and the linens were just our style.. Crisp white. The pillows need to be updated... Mattress was so so. We loved the large room and bathroom... Just needed another piece of furniture... A table perhaps. Really not big factors in our overall opinion tho!
Renewed clean building, interior, pool, jacuzzi, free breakfast, free wine service
Super noisy from the early morning. The bath tab drain plug was broken. They took forever to check us in although they upgraded the room,
Offer of an excellent glass of Australian red wine and cheese when checking in. Very friendly and so were the guests. Heated pool with lights offering a midnight swim. Have to come back with more spare time to stay.
Melrose Mansion was charming place almost like a bed and breakfast. It had a romanic feel about it and would be an excellent place for a couple's honeymoon. They have done an excellent job of keeping it the old New Orlean's way. It is easy walking distance to the French Quarter.
The only problem was the parking. We lucked out and found a parking place an half mile away that was in front of a home on Royal. You do have to be very careful though about parking because just a block away was the two hour parking (which is almost everywhere).
very comfortable bed and service minded staff
I was promised a jacuzzi in my room when i ordered but did not get one. It was more expensive than what the order promised was total cost incl tax. Very poor breakfast.
Period ambiance with new freshness creates cultural connection to the city with the amenities for the business and mature traveler. Found to be both private and friendly
Parking on street is a security and convenience issue even though it was relatively easy.
I loved its elegant, relaxing, comfortable and friendly atmosphere!!!
